In Attendance: Mark Donnelly, Chris Moberg, Steve Day, Jason Neptune, John
Spillane, Rick Snow, Dan Morency, Richard Duplessis, Patti Mikkelsen, Howard
Mikkelsen, Forest Duplessis, Charlie Thompson, Phil Winslow, Bethany Winslow
Secretary's Report: The minutes from November's meeting are published on the
website. There was no meeting in December. Motion to accept the minutes,
Mark Donnelly; Seconded, Steve Day; Unanimous.
Treasurer's Report: Rick Snow gave the report for the treasurer. The bank
balance is $3766.82 with no known payables. That amount is $1000 less than
last year due to the cost of director's insurance. A couple of memberships
have come in. Motion to accept, Mark Donnelly; Seconded, Phil Winslow;
Unanimous
Rally Report: Patti Mikkelsen reported that she is making a complete list of
inventory and paperwork to prepare for a new rally chair.
NER is having a snow and ice rally Feb. 9 in NH. It is 180 miles in length.
Patti passed out flyers. The Hampton Inn was offering special rates. No
summer tires allowed.
Cost of insurance for a rally-cross is $105 per event for $300,000 coverage.
Same as an auto-cross.
Charlie Thompson knows of a closed pit in Freeport that is 1/2 -3/4 mile. He
also knows the owner.
Feb. 16 is a rally-cross held at Pooh Corner Farm. Flyers were made
available by Richard Duplessis. They're using Tim O'Neil's specs.
Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. and the event begins at 10:00 a.m. Cost for
CMC members is $30, non-members: $40. There is a 50 driver limit. They need
workers for tech and timing.
Motion to accept report, Mark Donnelly; Seconded, Jason Neptune; Unanimous
Slalom Report: Chris Moberg, the chair elect, made the report. Chris is
planning for next year and handed out a tentative 2002 season schedule which
doesn't conflict with NER schedule. Chris tried to mix evenly between
central and southern Maine. There will be 3 events at the Augusta Civic
Center. The dates are somewhat fluid, pending rally schedule.
Storyland is a "go" for April 27/28. He is looking into setting up an
arrangement with Will's Inn again. There will be a school on Saturday which
will be considered a social event. One can work the event or teach for
points. It was suggested that the classroom portion be held at a nearby
restaurant, also to walk students through setting up a course and to go over
tech.
There will hopefully be a new venue at the Aquaboggin Water Park's parking
lot replacing the typically last OOB event in the fall.
Saco Defense lot is questionable and may appear in the schedule.
Major events will be determined at the March meeting.
$300,000/$1,000,000 are standard insurance costs.
Motion to accept, Rick Snow; Seconded, Steve Day; unanimous
Publicity Update: None; no chair. Dan did report that the minutes are on the
website as is the banquet info and registration form.

year: Steve Day, Mike Pichet and Fred Lagomarsino. A vote was taken.
F.M. Transmitter: A transmitter that will allow the commentary to be
listened to in the car is $130. Steve Day will build it. Motion to buy it
and for Steve to build it made by Jason Neptune; Seconded by Dan Morency;

The set-up of smaller cars: There is a danger to smaller cars because people
don't pay attention or notice them. Mark Donnelly motioned to set up a
paddock with lines. Rick Snow seconded. Accepted Unanimously
Chris Moberg proposed a 14 event series, rather than the standard 12 with
the month of July off. The scoring would be best 12 of the season. Official
motion was: Any year the club has over 12 events the best 12 count for
trophy scoring. Rick seconded and it was accepted unanimously.
Not scheduling events during the month of July is strictly traditional and
is not in the by-laws.
